Walgreens, others allegedly gave woman wrong medication

Medical malpractice 01

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Walgreens, Bond Drug Company of Illinois LLC, Astellas US Technologies Inc. and Astellas Pharma US Inc. for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Joanna Ammons, independent executor of the estate of Baidwatie Rita Lecoin, filed a complaint on Dec. 1 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging Lecoin sustained serious, severe and disabling injuries as a result of taking the wrong medication. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly making no attempts to contact Lecoin about the incorrect medication they allegedly had given her.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court, plus court costs. She is represented by Alex D. Abate of Angelini & Ori LLC in Chicago.
