CHICAGO — Peoples Gas Light & Coke Company and Honore Properties LLC have settled a lawsuit brought by two people, accusing the companies of negligence.

According to Cook County court records, plaintiffs Daniel Schmieder and Alaina Kaczmarski settled their lawsuit against the companies. A Cook County judge ordered the settled case dismissed on Oct. 4, 2018.

the plaintiffs had filed a complaint on Dec. 14, 2017, in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants failed to make sure that natural gas did not enter the condo unit owned by the plaintiffs.

The plaintiffs sought judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. They were represented by Lauren A. Buchanan & Associates P.C. in Chicago.

The judge also later denied requests from the plaintiffs to seal the records of the case, following settlement.
