CHICAGO — A woman is suing the city of Chicago, Chicago Public Schools, Stanton Mechanical Inc., Aramark Services Inc. and Sodexomagic LLC for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Sofia L. Rivera filed a complaint on Dec. 14 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants failed to make sure that the HVAC, thermostat, boiler and temperature control in Room 205 at Northwest Middle School were properly working.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges she sustained physical injuries as a result of high temperatures in room 205, which allegedly caused her to fall to the floor. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to make repairs to the thermostat before allowing the plaintiff to instruct her class.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by attorney Jason H. Sherwood of Sherwood Law Group LLC in Chicago.
