Two women sued over man's death in June 2017 crash near Plainfield

Car accident 11

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Grace Nelson and Jill Nelson for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Carol Black, independent administrator of the estate of Richard Black, filed a complaint on Dec. 20 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendants failed to exercise care while operating their vehicle when it collided with the vehicle that Richard Black was operating on Wolf's Crossing Road near Plainfield in June 2017. Grace Nelson was the driver and allegedly had one hour of sleep the night before the accident.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she and Richard Black sustained serious physical injuries on June 27 in the accident. Richard Black died from his injuries. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to keep a proper look out while operating their vehicle.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court. She is represented by Daniel S. Kirschner of Corboy & Demetrio P.C. in Chicago.
