CHICAGO — A man has filed a class action lawsuit against Bud's Ambulance for alleged fraud, unjust enrichment and violation of federal law.

Gaines Strader filed a complaint on Dec. 20 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendant claimed it is authorized to assess and collect medical record and copying fees.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was charged a "handling fee" for requesting records of services that were provided to him when he got injured and needed an ambulance, which he alleged violates the law.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant, appropriate damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Phillip A. Bock and James M. Smith of Bock Law Firm LLC in Chicago and Richard J. Doherty of Log Cabin Legal Services in Chicago.
