CHICAGO — A Deerfield lawyer is suing Mariano's, a man and three women for alleged defamation.

Janice Morrison filed a complaint on Dec. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants issued false statements that damaged her reputation.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges her reputation was damaged as a result of being accused of drinking alcohol while working as a part-time bartender at the store on New Year's Eve. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly implying that she was terminated from work for drinking while on the job. This statement allegedly was made in order to damage her reputation and standing in the community.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount no less than $250,000, a public statement that the alleged statement is false, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is representing herself in the action.
