St. Alexius Medical Center allegedly failed to prevent man from falling

Medical malpractice 07

CHICAGO — An estate administrator is suing St. Alexius Medical Center for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Karen Olynyk, independent administrator of the estate of John F. Tompkins, filed a complaint on Jan. 18 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging Tompkins sustained serious physical injuries when he fell to the floor, including fractures, contusions and a severe shock to his nervous system. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly allowing its employee to stop helping Tompkins to the bathroom despite allegedly knowing he was at a high risk of falling.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $30,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Terry M. Lachcik of Law Office of Daniel E. Goodman LLC in Rosemont.
