CHICAGO — A man who owns an import business is suing Israel-based Ofer Mizrahi Ltd. and Ofer Mizrahi Diamonds Inc. for alleged fraud.

David Cohen, who wholly owns Zion Importing & Manufacturing, filed a complaint on Jan. 29 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants sold him a diamond without informing him it had been laser-drilled, and was thus worth less than he had been led to believe.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and judgment against the defendants, $1.5 million in treble and punitive damages, court costs, interest and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Mark Hammervold of Hammervold PLC in Nashville, Tenn.
