Chicago mayor's office accused of violating FOIA for allegedly refusing to reveal city's bid for Amazon HQ2

CHICAGO — A civic transparency activist group is suing the Chicago Mayor's Office for refusing to turn over information related to the city's bid to land Amazon's planned second headquarters.

Lucy Parsons Labs filed a complaint on Feb. 1 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging it requested a copy of the bid for Amazon's new headquarters under the Freedom of Information Act, but was not given any of the documents. The plaintiff alleges the city claimed the information requested was exempt from disclosure.

The plaintiff seeks an order from the court declaring that the defendant violated FOIA. It also wants the court to force the defendant to turn over the requested documents, pay civil penalties, court costs and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by the firm of Loevy & Loevy, of Chicago.
