CHICAGO — A woman is suing Katrin Keyworth and the Allstate Corporation for a fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of a woman who was loading a package into the trunk of her car on the side of the road in Northbrook on Dec. 22, 2017.

Aaliyah Monae Franklin-Joyce, independent administrator of the estate of Tasha Marie Franklin, filed a complaint on Feb. 2 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging Keyworth failed to properly control her vehicle, striking Tash Marie Franklin, who was loading a package from her home on Sanders Drive into her car, and push Franklin's parked vehicle up onto the curb with Franklin's children inside.

According to the complaint, Keyworth was on her way to pick up her daughter from daycare at Allstate, where she worked, at the time of the crash.

The plaintiff holds Keyworth, who was an Allstate employee, responsible for allegedly driving faster than the posted speed limit and for allegedly failing to decrease her speed to avoid the collision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court. She is represented by Robert R. Duncan and Katherine A. Ross of Duncan Law Group LLC in Chicago.
