CHICAGO — A woman is suing Silver Cross Hospital, Dr. Abdul-Hamid Mohammed Shahbain, Dr. Matthew McCormick, Shahbain Internal Medicine Ltd., EM Strategies Ltd. and several nurses for wrongful death and allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Stephanie Mutz, independent administrator of the estate of Victoria Doyle, filed a complaint on Feb. 8 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging Doyle contracted severe sepsis and multi-system organ failure, which allegedly led to her death. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to monitor Doyle's condition and communicate changes in her condition to a urology service to prevent her condition from worsening.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by John Perconti, Margaret Battersby Black and Megan M. Shore of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
