CHICAGO — A couple is suing Ridgewood Community High School District 234 and District 234 Board of Education for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Gerard Martinez and Pasqua Martinez filed a complaint on Feb. 8 in behalf of their son in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the school allowed their son to play baseball despite allegedly knowing he had little experience.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege their son was hit by a baseball in the mouth on June 15. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to provide proper safety equipment to their son.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. They are represented by James C. Pullos of Clifford Law Offices P.C. in Chicago.
