CHICAGO — A man has filed a class-action lawsuit against Raymond Management Company Inc., which does business as the Raymond Group, and the Ultimate Software Group Inc. for allegedly collecting his biometric information without consent.

C. Yashua Sharrieff filed a complaint on Feb. 2 in the Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants violated the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges the employers required him and other workers to scan their facial geometry and store the scan to be used by a punch clock to be used to validate identity every time employees clocked in and out for work shifts. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide him with a written notice as to why his biometric data was being collected and stored, including the length of time it would be stored.
