Urban Education Institute, others allegedly let Woodlawn School security guard throw student to ground

CHICAGO — A  woman is suing Urban Education Institute, the University of Chicago Charter School Corporation, the University of Chicago, Allied Universal Security Service and a security guard at Woodlawn School for alleged negligence.

Altivia Davis, on behalf of her minor son, filed a complaint on Feb. 13 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants allowed the security guard to physically assault her son while he was forcibly removing the student from the school.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges her son sustained serious physical injuries on Feb. 24, 2017, when the guard allegedly slammed him to the ground, injuring his right ankle. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly refusing to assist her son with his injuries.
