CHICAGO — A worker has filed a class action lawsuit against Arro Corporation for allegedly violating a state privacy law when requiring workers to scan their fingerprints into a company database for use when punching in and out of work shifts.

Alea Bolds filed a complaint on Feb. 13 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendant collected and stored her biometric information without consent, and without providing notices required under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, disclosing why her fingerprint scan was being collected and stored, and for how long the company intended to keep such information.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks injunctive relief, statutory damages of $5,000, statutory damages of $1,000, monetary damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Myles McGuire, William P.N. Kingston and Jad Sheikali of McGuire Law P.C. in Chicago.
