Sunrise Southwest allegedly failed to prevent employee from assaulting 12-year-old on bus

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Sunrise Southwest LLC for alleged battery.

Jane Doe, by her mother and next friend, Jane Doe Sr., filed a complaint on Feb. 13 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendant allowed its employee to physically assault Jane Doe, a 12-year-old girl, inside a school bus.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Jane Doe was dragged from her bus seat and through the aisle on Sept. 15, which allegedly caused her to sustain physical injuries. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly allowing its employee to grab Jane Doe's shoulder strap without any valid cause to do so.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Daniel M. Breen of Breen Goril Law in Chicago.
