McDonald's, franchisee accused of failing to train employees to properly place lid on hot cup

CHICAGO — A woman is suing McDonald's and RMS Management Inc. for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Araceli Sanchez filed a complaint on Feb. 23 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging she sustained severe burns on Feb. 25, 2016, when the lid of her cup allegedly popped open and spilled the contents on her. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to properly place the lid on the cup.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by attorney Frank J. Olavarria in Chicago.
