CHICAGO — The guardians of a disabled person are suing Wolin & Rosen Ltd. and Michael Pildes for alleged breach of contract.

Brian Kaplan and Mark Kaplan, co-guardians of Joel Kaplan, a disabled man, and co-trustees of the Joel H. Kaplan Living Trust, filed a complaint on Feb. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants failed to provide Joel Kaplan with proper legal representation.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege Joel Kaplan was overcharged for legal services. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible for allegedly extending proceedings, misrepresenting the contents of a settlement agreement and allowing an unprepared witness to bill them excessively.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000, treble damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by Jeffrey O. Katz, Michael D. Haeberle and Elise H. Yu of The Patterson Law Firm LLC in Chicago.
