St. Alexius Medical Center, others allegedly inserted feeding tube into patient’s lung

CHICAGO — A man is suing St. Alexius Medical Center and two nurses for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Oldrich Vrana filed a complaint on March 12 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging he was severely injured when a feeding tube allegedly was inserted into his left lung instead of his stomach. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to properly train their employees to make sure the nasal gastric feeding tube they were inserting into him would be placed in his stomach.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. He is represented by John J. Pappas Sr. of The Pappas Law Group LLC in Chicago and Robert F. Krug Jr. of Kelleher & Buckley LLC in North Barrington.
