CHICAGO — A mother is suing several health care providers for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries to her and her unborn son.

Presence St. Mary's Hospital, Dr. Ming Xu, Presence Medical Group, Presence Health, Presence Health Network, Presence Health Partners LLC, Presence Care Transformation Corporation, St. Mary's Behavioral Health Network, Provena Resurrection Health Network and Provena Physicians Alliance LLC were named as defendants in the suit.

Stacy Vagt filed a complaint on April 5 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants failed to provide her and her son with proper medical care while she was pregnant.

According to the complaint, Stacy Vagt was allegedly treated with a drug that carried a risk of birth defects. The complaint holds the defendants responsible for allegedly rendering psychiatric treatment to Stacy Vagt even though she was pregnant, which allegedly caused her son to sustain injuries.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court plus court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Randall F. Peters of Randall F. Peters & Associates in Chicago.
