Chicago Transit Authority, others allegedly operated defective escalator, causing injuries

CHICAGO — A woman is suing the Chicago Transit Authority, City of Chicago, Elevator Inspection Service Company, Kone Inc. and Just Elevator Inspection Service Company for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Shaista Uddin filed a complaint on April 3 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging she sustained physical injuries on April 25 while allegedly using an escalator. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to warn her about the defective nature of the elevator.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Jason H. Sherwood of Sherwood Law Group in Chicago.
