U of Chicago Med Center allegedly failed to provide pregnant woman with proper medical care

Medical malpractice 09

CHICAGO — A mother is suing the University of Chicago Medical Center for alleged medical malpractice.

Reshecoa Flanders filed a complaint on May 21 in the Cook County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendant failed to provide her with proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges her minor child suffered severe developmental delays as a result of the defendant's alleged negligence when providing her medical care while she was pregnant. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to properly diagnose, treat and timely perform an appendectomy on her to prevent spontaneous pre-term labor.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for damages, costs and any further relief that the court deems just. She is represented by Steven B. Muslin of Muslin & Sandberg in Chicago.
