CHICAGO — A homeowner is suing Allstate Property and Casualty Insurance Co. for breach of contract, alleging the company did not pay enough to cover property damage from a fire.
Robin Mills filed a complaint May 31 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the insurer breached its duty of good faith and fair dealing.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff suffered a fire at her property on June 2, 2017.
Miller said she holds Allstate responsible because it allegedly failed to pay all amounts due under the insurance policy, failed to fairly and promptly settle the claim and refused to pay the plaintiff's additional living expenses.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment against the defendant for damages greater than $50,000 and the award of costs and attorney's fees. She is represented by Edward Eshoo Jr. and Christina M. Phillips of Merlin Law Group in Chicago.
