Estate administrator blames Southpoint Nursing for patient's death

Medical malpractice 02

CHICAGO — An independent administrator is suing Southpoint Nursing and Rehabilitation Center LLC and affiliates, citing alleged negligence and wrongful death.

Gloria Williams, as administrator of the estate of the late Thomas Shelly, filed a complaint May 30 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging Shelly experienced pain and suffering, his condition deteriorated and he eventually died on March 23, 2015, as a result of the negligence of the defendants in providing adequate care, treatment and monitoring of their resident. In addition, Williams claimed Shelly's next of kin have suffered from grief, sorrow and mental suffering.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment greater than $50,000. She is represented by Christopher Cromydas of Hurley, McKenna & Mertz PC in Chicago.
