Patient sues Zrelak Chiropractic, says performed non-surgical procedures despite need for surgery

Medical malpractice 03

CHICAGO — A patient is suing a chiropractor and his practice, citing alleged breach of duty and medical malpractice.

William Holdeman filed a complaint May 31 in Cook County Circuit Court against Sean Curry and Zrelak Chiropractic Center SC, which does business as East Bank Chiropractic and East Bank Chiropractic and Wellness Center, alleging the defendants breached their duty to use the knowledge, skill and care ordinarily used by a reasonably careful medical professional.

According to the complaint, despite receiving chiropractic treatment, therapy and spinal decompression from the defendants between May 31 and June 1, 2016, he still had to undergo emergency spinal surgery for disc ruptures.

As a result, Holdeman claims he suffered additional injuries, causing more pain, suffering and medical expenses.

The plaintiff said the defendants are responsible because they allegedly should have known that the chiropractic treatment Holdeman received would cause additional injury.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment greater than $50,000. He is represented by Robert R. Duncan of Duncan Law Group LLC in Chicago.
