CHICAGO — A daughter is suing a nursing care facility, citing alleged negligent supervision of her mother.
Ernestine Barrios, who has power of attorney for Angela Lara filed a complaint June 4 in Cook County Circuit Court against Covenant Health Care Center Inc., which does business as Brandel Health and Rehab, and Aurora Eichelberger, alleging the defendants breached their Nursing Home Care Act obligation not to abuse or neglect any resident.
According to the complaint, between February 2017 and October 2017, during Lara's stay at Covenant's facility, she allegedly fell, got ulcers and was physically abused, assaulted and battered by a member of the staff.
As a result, Barrios alleged Lara suffered serious injuries, mental distress, lost her chance of recovery and incurred medical expenses.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for an amount substantially greater than the $50,000 jurisdictional limit of the court. She is represented by Michael S. Keating and Thomas A. Reuland of Keating Law Offices, PC in Chicago.
