Estate representative blames Advocate Condell Medical Center for patient's death

Medical malpractice 07

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Advocate Condell Medical Center, and five physicians, citing alleged medical malpractice.

Roberta Frankel, as executor of the estate of the late Jared Frankel, filed a complaint June 4 in Cook County Circuit Court against Advocate Health Care and physicians Kevin Go, Sabrina Orenstein, Daniel Rivard, Juan Alzate and Beth Ginsburg for allegedly violating the Wrongful Death Act by failing to provide adequate medical care and treatment to the medical center's patients.

According to the complaint, Jared Frankel was a patient of the defendants on May 30, 2016, and was diagnosed with a concussion, a small intracranial hemorrhage and pelvic fractures. After undergoing bypass surgery and regularly taking the drug Plavix to limit platelet build-up, the plaintiff claims Jared Frankel began coughing, experienced difficulty breathing and became unconscious after discharge from the medical center.

Roberta Frankel alleges the resulting injuries led to Frankel's death in June 2016.

The plaintiff claims the defendants failed to recognize the cardiovascular risks presented by the treatment administered and failed to develop and implement an appropriate plan to reduce the risks presented by the cardiovascular disease of the patient during and following his admission and stay at the medical center.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment in excess of the court's jurisdictional requisite as required to fairly and adequately compensate for the losses alleged. She is represented by attorney Adam L. Frankel in Chicago.
