Estate administrator claims St. Andrew Life Center neglect led to death

Medical malpractice 07

CHICAGO — A man is suing Presence RHC Senior Services, which does business as St. Andrew Life Center, citing alleged negligence and violation of the Nursing Home Care Act.

Wayne Michelsen Jr. filed a complaint June 12 in Cook County Circuit Court on behalf of the late Wayne Michelsen, alleging Michelsen allegedly sustained serious and permanent injuries from pressure ulcers he developed while in the defendant's care, causing pain and suffering, disfigurement, disability and, ultimately, death.

The plaintiff claims the defendant failed to adequately monitor and treat Wayne Michelsen's deteriorating condition, failed to ensure sufficient nursing staff was on-hand and failed to ensure the health and safety of all residents.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment against defendant for damages greater than $50,000, as well as costs, attorney's fees and other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Jason Kroot of Goldberg, Weisman & Cairo Ltd. in Chicago.
