CHICAGO — A customer is suing Kmart, citing alleged negligence.
Orlinda Nathan Williams filed a complaint June 21 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging she was at the defendant's store on July 15, 2016, when she allegedly tripped and fell over a shelving unit that was placed in a pedestrian pathway.
The plaintiff said she sustained severe and permanent injuries, and the defendant should be held responsible because it allegedly failed to conduct a necessary inspection of the aisles, floor and customer traffic in and around the furniture and shelving unit aisle.
The plaintiff seeks an amount greater than $50,0000. She is represented by Lawrence Maya of Stone & Maya PC in Chicago.
