Patient blames Villa Evergreen Park for therapy-related injury

Medical malpractice 06

CHICAGO — A woman is suing a rehabilitation center, citing alleged breach of duty and negligence.

Evelyn Henton filed a complaint June 21 in Cook County Circuit Court against The Villa at Evergreen Park,, alleging Henton was receiving physical therapy on Aug. 27, 2017, following a knee replacement surgery when she allegedly suffered injuries during ice machine therapy.

The plaintiff said the defendant allegedly failed to put a towel or other barrier to keep the ice machine from coming into direct contact with her leg, failed to calibrate the physical therapy ice machine to be ice-on/ice-off in 20 minute intervals and failed to tell the staff that the ice treatment should be monitored.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment in an amount greater than $50,000, plus costs. She is represented by Susan Loggans of Susan E. Loggans & Associates PC in Chicago.
