CHICAGO — A former employee is suing Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, which does business as Medical Services RIC, Shirley Ryan Ability Lab and other individual defendants, citing alleged retaliation and violation of the Illinois Whistleblower Act.
Kelly Sullivan filed a complaint June 20 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants breached their duties of good faith and fair dealing.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff allegedly suffered stress-related injuries that required her to undergo medical treatment and hospitalization for several weeks because the defendants disparaged her reputation to diminish her credibility as a whistleblower and retaliated by terminating her employment without valid cause.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment against defendants, reinstatement, back pay, interest, compensatory and punitive damages, costs, attorney's fees and further relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Anthony Pinelli of Law Office of Anthony Pinelli in Chicago and Susan Pavlow of the Law Offices of Susan M. Pavlow in Chicago.
