Woman claims Presence Resurrection surgeries made symptoms worse

Medical malpractice 08

CHICAGO — A patient is suing Presence Resurrection Medical Center, citing alleged medical negligence.

Gloria Billick filed a complaint June 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against the medical center, Dr. Arun Ohri and others, alleging when Billick underwent an endoscopy in 2014, which was recommended and performed by the defendants to treat Gerd, and underwent a procedure to repair a hiatal hernia in her abdomen, the procedures did not control her Gerd, and the symptoms of the ailment became unbearable. As a result, Billick claims she is in constant pain and needs ongoing medical care and treatment.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to warn or fully inform her of the unnecessary risks involved with the surgery and failed to provide the proper course of care and treatment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment in an unspecified amount, but which she said substantially exceed the jurisdictional limit. She is represented by Richard Prendergast and Michael Layden of Richard J. Prendergast Ltd. in Chicago.
