Aperion Care Moline, others sued for patient's alleged wrongful death

Medical malpractice 03

CHICAGO — An estate administrator is suing Riverwood Rehab LLC, also known as Aperion Care Moline, Aperion Care Inc., Aperion Consulting, Ahearn and Associates Medical Center, Dr. Michael Ahearn and Dr. Hussein Zaioor, citing alleged negligence and wrongful death.

Linda Hoeltzner filed a complaint June 26 in Cook County Circuit Court on behalf of the estate of Joan Anderson, alleging that the defendants violated the Nursing Home Care Act by not being able to provide adequate care.

According to the complaint, Aperion Care Moline was responsible for administering and monitoring all of Anderson's prescription medications between June 20, 2016 and July 6, 2016, but Anderson allegedly did not receive the appropriate care.

As a result, Hoeltzner claims Anderson suffered al hemorrhage, which contributed to her death. In addition, Hoeltzner said Anderson's next-of-kin suffered grief and sorrow and mental anguish and had to pay medical and funeral expenses.

Hoeltzner said the defendants allegedly should have been aware of Anderson's medical diagnoses and the significance of the proper administration and monitoring of her medications and treatments.

The plaintiff seeks an amount greater than $50,000, attorney's fees and costs of the action. She is represented by Susan Novosad and Nicholas Emerson of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
