CHICAGO — A child's mother is suing Dolton School District and a school security guard, citing alleged civil assault and negligent supervision.

Chakita Trotter, the mother of a minot student, filed a complaint June 27 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the security guard verbally and physically abused Madison on May 22, and school district representatives repeatedly refused to identify the guard or schedule a meeting between the guard and Trotter.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on May 22, Madison sustained physical and psychological injuries and trauma, and he will require further medical and psychological care and will incur expenses.

Trotter also claims the guard abused Madison several times before the May 22 incident, and Trotter notified school personnel of the alleged abuse.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an amount greater than $50,000 plus punitive damages, interest and costs. She is represented by Kathleen Zellner of the Law Offices of Kathleen Zellner in Downers Grove.
