Estate administrator blames Metrosouth, Loyola for patient's death

Medical malpractice 03

CHICAGO — An estate administrator is suing Blue Island Hospital Co. LLC, doing business as Metrosouth Medical Center, doctors Sandra Grochowski, Anas Nahhas, Umair Nazeer and Rohit Chappidi, and Loyola University Medical Center, citing alleged negligence and wrongful death.

Trenell Poindexter filed a complaint July 3 in Cook County Circuit Court on behalf of the estate of Jessie Cooley, claiming Cooley allegedly sustained injuries that caused or contributed to her death on Aug. 3, 2016, and her next-of-kin have suffered grief and loss of companionship as a result of the negligence of the defendants in providing adequate diagnosis, care, treatment and monitoring of Cooley.

Poindexter said the defendants allegedly failed to timely order placement of a central line, failed to properly place Cooley's feeding tube, and failed to apply the skill and knowledge of a well-qualified physician to supervise an operation and to treat Cooley.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks adequate compensation. She is represented by Paul Richter and Caitlin Finnegan of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz in Chicago.
