Heir accuses George Pecherek & Associates of legal malpractice

Law money 13

CHICAGO — A man is suing George Pecherek and law firm George Pecherek & Associates PC, citing alleged legal malpractice.

Joseph Janus filed a complaint June 27 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging Janus suffered a monetary loss because of the defendants' alleged failure to complete a transfer of property owned by his deceased parents into a trust on March 18, resulting in a reduction in distribution under his parents' will to 20 percent from 50 percent.

Janus said the defendants should be held responsible because they allegedly forced him to incur fees to contest the will and protect his interest and because they failed to properly prepare and record a trustee's deed.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment against defendant for an amount greater than $100,000. He is represented by Betty Strama Brown of Strama Brown Law Firm PC in Palos Hills.
