CHICAGO — A daughter who has been granted power of attorney for her mother is suing Alden Estates of Naperville Inc., which does business as Alden Estates of Naperville, as well as Alden Naperville LLC and Alden Management Services, citing alleged negligence.
Beverly Lumpkin filed a complaint July 2 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging, while still a resident of the defendants' nursing facility, Lumpkin's mother Florence Holmes developed pressure sores, experienced pain, disability, disfigurement and a loss of dignity, and her physical, mental and psycho-social conditions deteriorated, allegedly as a result of the negligence of the defendants in supervising and assisting her.
Lumpkin said the defendants allegedly failed to provide the necessary care and services to prevent Holmes's worsening condition, failed to adequately treat her pressure sores and failed to timely notify her family of changes in her condition.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment in an amount in excess of $50,000, plus attorney's fees and costs. She is represented by Jaime Koziol Delaney and David Bulgarelli of Levin & Perconti in Chicago.
