Loop Studio claims Coast to Coast improperly withheld commissions

Law money 04

CHICAGO — An independent sales company is suing furniture manufacturer Coast To Coast Designs Inc., citing alleged breach of contract.

Loop Studio LLC filed a complaint July 3 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendant breached its duty of good faith and fair dealing.

According to the complaint, Loop Studio was denied commissions on June 22 for sales of furniture to customers Graduate Iowa City and Great Wolf because it was representing a competing company without notifying the defendant, although the plaintiff claims it never agreed to such exclusivity.

Loop Studio said it is an independent company and not an employee of Coast to Coast, and the alleged restrictions were never discussed nor stipulated in any contract.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment for unpaid services, costs and further relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Adam Glazer and Matthew Tyrell of Schoenberg Finkel Newman & Rosenberg LLC in Chicago.
