Patient claims Northwestern Memorial Hospital, doctors made anesthesia error

Medical malpractice 09

CHICAGO — A patient is suing Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Dr. Alina Brodskaia and other medical providers, citing alleged negligence.

Jack Lieb filed a complaint July 10 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging, on March 13, 2017, he experienced a traumatic injury to the sciatic nerve that resulted in severe loss of neurological and motor function of the right leg and pain and suffering, allegedly as a result of the negligence of the defendants in performing surgery on him. Specifically, he plaintiff said the defendants improperly administered anesthetic agents directly into his sciatic nerve.

Lieb said the defendants should be held responsible because they allegedly failed to warn him of the risks of the procedure, failed to quickly realize they improperly injected the anesthetic agent and failed to properly supervise a resident anesthesiologist in the performance of a regional sciatic nerve block.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment in an amount greater than $50,000. He is represented by Michael Kosner of The Deratany Firm in Chicago.
