Estate administrator accuses Surgical Care Associates, Ingalls of negligence

CHICAGO — A surviving relative is suing Surgical Care Associates Ltd., Ingalls Memorial Hospital and Dr. Gary Peplinksi, citing alleged medical negligence.

Ella Wright, individually and as special administrator of the estate of Walter W. Wright, filed a complaint July 10 in Cook County Circuit Court,, alleging the defendants breached their standard of care to ensure that an orthopaedic procedure performed on Walter Wright was safe.

According to the complaint, Walter Wright underwent an elective surgical procedure on Feb. 13, 2017 at the defendants' facility during which he allegedly suffered an injury that could have been avoided, resulting in his death.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment greater than $50,000. She is represented by Joseph Balesteri and Kathryn Conway of Power Rogers & Smith LLC in Chicago.
