Widow claims McKeen & Associates, Baizer Kolar weren't prepared for suit, demands $2M

CHICAGO — A widow is suing two law firms, citing alleged breach of duty and professional negligence.

Susan Chisum, as special administrator and representative of the estate of Robert Chisum, filed a complaint July 12 in Cook County Circuit Court against Brian McKeen, McKeen & Associates PC, Joseph Kolar and Baizer, Kolar & Lewis PC.

According to the complaint, shortly after Robert Chisum's death, the plaintiff retained the defendants to prosecute claims on behalf of her husband's estate.

However, Susan Chisum claims the defendants made several improper assumptions regarding her husband, were unprepared to try the case and convinced her to settle as if she had no other option.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an amount in excess of $2 million, as well as other relief the court deems proper. She is represented by Jeffrey Katz and Peter Evans of Patterson Law Firm LLC in Chicago.
