Pedestrian blames Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center for injuries from fall

Slip01

CHICAGO — A Chicago resident is suing Presence Chicago Hospitals Network and Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, citing alleged negligence.

Karen Morrissette filed a complaint July 19 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging she was on a walkway at the defendants' hospital on July 21, 2016, when she tripped and fell to the ground, allegedly because the defendants left an unstable and uneven concrete slab on the premises. The plaintiff claims she sustained extensive injuries, lost money and incurred medical expenses as a result of the fall.

Morrissette said the defendants allegedly failed to inspect or repair the hazardous condition, failed to provide signs or barriers to warn pedestrians of the danger and failed to provide a safe walkway from the hospital property to the parking lot.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment for an amount greater than $50,000, plus costs. She is represented by Robert Wilson of Robert A. Wilson Attorney at Law in Chicago.
