CHICAGO — A couple is suing Dr. Scott Samlan, Dr. Aaker Shah, Dr. Daniel Irving, Northwest Community Hospital and CEP America LLC, doing business as Vituity, citing alleged medical negligence.
Anwar Haque and Tabassum Haque filed a complaint July 17 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants breached their duty to use the skill and care ordinarily used by reasonably well-qualified and careful medical providers.
According to the complaint, Anwar Haque was a patient at the defendants' facility between July 25, 2016 and Aug. 22, 2016 with tonsillitis.
However, the plaintiffs claim Anwar Haque was not properly diagnosed with a retropharyngeal abscess, resulting in further injuries, pain and disability.
The plaintiffs claim the defendants failed to order necessary diagnostic tests, failed to adequately and properly monitor and manage the patient's condition and failed to adequately treat the patient's condition.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek a judgment greater than $50,000. They are represented by Brian Murphy of Hofeld and Schaffner in Chicago.
