Patient accuses Presence Central and Suburban Hospitals of negligence

Medical malpractice 03

CHICAGO — A patient is suing Presence Central and Suburban Hospitals Network and associated health care facilities, citing alleged negligence.

Lisa Sherdon filed a complaint July 17 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants failed to follow applicable safety guidelines and regulations.

According to the complaint, Sherdon was admitted to the defendants' Joliet facility on Aug. 21, 2016. While she was a resident of the facility, the plaintiff claims she developed pressure ulcers that worsened over time, resulting in injuries, pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, and medical and other expenses.

Sherdon said the defendants allegedly failed to provide a proper examination, diagnosis, supervision and care and treatment and forced her to retain an attorney to prosecute the lawsuit.

The plaintiff seeks compensatory damages of more than $50,000. She is represented by Jason Kellerman of The Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates PC in Chicago.
