Pedestrian blames property owners, Wilmette for slip and fall

Slip02

CHICAGO — A Cook County resident is suing the viillage of Wilmette and property owners Edward Mehlman and Diane Mehlman, citing alleged negligence.

Darlene Zamansky filed a complaint Aug. 9 in Cook County Circuit Court, claiming the defendants failed to keep their sidewalk in good condition and keep it clear for pedestrians.

According to the complaint, Zamansky was walking on the sidewalk on May 16 when she allegedly stepped into a puddle, causing her to slip and fell and sustain a wrist fracture.

Zamansky said the defendants allegedly knew that mud and liquid from the Mehlmans' drain accumulated on the sidewalk.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an amount greater than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems proper. She is represented by David Howard and Michael Lotus of The Howard Law Firm LLC in Chicago.
