Patient claims she suffered nerve damage during surgery at Advocate South Suburban

CHICAGO — A medical patient is suing hospitals, citing alleged medical negligence.

Christa Beals filed a complaint on Aug. 13 Cook County Circuit Court against Advocate Health and Advocate Health Partners alleging that the defendants failed to exercised reasonable care and skill in treating plaintiff.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 18, 2016, Christa Beals alleges she sustained nerve injuries when she underwent right ankle surgery at Advocate South Suburban Hospital.

Beals claims she suffered injuries to her left leg, foot pain, numbness and weakness, causing to her undergo additional medical treatment and to incur continuing medical expenses and lost of income. 

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment greater than $50,000, plus legal costs. She is represented by Stephen S. Phalen of the Law Offices of Stephen S. Phalen LLC in Chicago.
