CHICAGO — A patient is suing St. Alexius Medical Center and its doctors, alleging they failed to diagnose his lung cancer.

William Torling filed a complaint on Aug. 13 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendant hospital and doctors David Albritton, Rolf Vrla, Gregory Gullo, Michel Paik and Phuong Huynh, and medical practice Northwest United Urology LLC, citing alleged negligence.

The plaintiff alleges they improperly advised Torling a renal mass was not problematic and a biopsy was not needed.

Torling discovered his injuries were or may have been caused by the negligent acts or omissions of the defendants, according to the complaint.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly diagnose and treat his lung cancer, failed to obtain a biopsy and advise him of his condition and failed to properly interpret a CT angiogram.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an amount in excess of the court's jurisdictional requirements that will fairly compensate him. He is represented by Jeffrey C. Schwartz of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz in Chicago.
