Mayer Brown announced that Tax Transactions & Consulting partner David Burton and Banking & Finance partner Robert Goldberg were named to A Word About Wind’s Legal Power List 2018, a roster of the 100 most influential lawyers working globally on the financing aspects of wind energy.
The leader of Mayer Brown’s Renewable Energy group in New York, Mr. Burton advises clients on a wide range of US tax matters, with a particular emphasis on project finance and energy transactions. Mr. Burton has extensive experience structuring tax-efficient transactions for the acquisition and financing of wind projects. In addition, he counsels clients on tax matters regarding the formation and structuring of domestic and offshore funds for investing in renewable energy. Mr. Burton is co-editor of Mayer Brown’s Tax Equity Times blog, which addresses issues at the intersection of renewable energy and tax policy in the United States.
Mr. Goldberg is a co-head of the firmwide Renewable Energy group. He advises developers, sponsors, investors, lenders and other participants in domestic and international project finance and development transactions, acquisitions and divestitures and joint venture arrangements. Mr. Goldberg focuses on the energy and infrastructure sectors, including substantial work in the wind sector and on other renewable energy matters, as well as conventional power, oil and gas and toll road projects.
