CHICAGO — A woman is suing Northwestern Medicine Regional Medical Group and several doctors alleging they failed to properly diagnose her cancer.
Michaleen Peterson filed a complaint on Aug. 23 in Cook County Circuit Court against Northwestern Medicine Regional Medical Group; Daniel O'Malley, D.O.; Uropartners and George Schuster, alleging that they did not follow recommendations by the radiologist to order a follow-up scan. The complaint alleges they also failed to notice an abnormality on her liver in the report of the CT scan.
According to the complaint, on July 7, 2015, Michaleen Peterson went to the defendants with complaints of nausea, constipation and sweats with gradual worsening. Plaintiff claims during her tests with defendants, she allegedly did not receive follow-up scans to ensure that there was not a mass on her liver, abdomen and pelvis.
As a result, Michaleen was diagnosed with advanced stage adenocarcinoma in December 2016, which is terminal.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for damages greater than $50,000, plus costs of action. She is represented by Matthew L. Williams and Eirene N. Salvi of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, PC in Chicago.
