Trophy

Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff issued the following announcement on Aug. 27.

Benesch is pleased to announce that Margo Wolf O’Donnell has been selected as an honoree for the 2018 National Women in Law Awards. The awards honor general counsel, in-house counsel and law firm leaders who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing the empowerment of women in law.

“We are thrilled that Margo has received this esteemed honor. She is a top-notch litigator; but more than that, Margo is a leader, and an example for all women considering a career in law,” said Gregg Eisenberg, Benesch’s Managing Partner and Executive Committee Member. “As our industry continues to strive for more diversity, Margo is exactly the kind of person to lead that charge.”

Margo and the other honorees will be recognized at an awards dinner on Oct. 3 as part of the Women, Influence, and Power in Law Conference in Washington, D.C.

Co-chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group, Margo handles cases and counsels clients on issues involving employment, restrictive covenants, and intellectual property in a variety of business sectors.

Margo has received numerous accolades for her work. She has been recognized as one of The Best Lawyers in America, and as one of the “Top 10 Women Employment Management Attorneys in Illinois” by Leading Lawyer. Best Lawyers named Margo as one of fifteen “Women of Influence” in the legal profession nationwide in 2017, and Chambers & Partners recognized Margo as an “Inspiring Role Model Promoting Gender Diversity.” Crain’s Chicago included Margo in its inaugural list of “Most Influential Women Lawyers in Chicago” and in its most recent list of “Chicago’s Notable Women Lawyers.”

Margo is Past President and recipient of the Leadership Award of the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law. She serves on the Boards of Yale Chicago, the Woman’s Athletic Club of Chicago and the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. She is very involved with Benesch’s women’s initiative, where she has helped launch a power coaching group for women in house attorneys.

Margo is a partner in Benesch’s Chicago office, home to a core group of Labor & Employment practitioners, and supported by 20 top employment attorneys across other Benesch offices nationwide, making it one of the largest and most well-regarded labor practices in the country. U.S. News & World Report gave Benesch’s labor group first-tier rankings in four metropolitan categories and the group was recognized in Best Law Firm/Best Lawyers and Chambers & Partners.

The Benesch Chicago office has grown from just two attorneys in 2016 to 40 attorneys, with plans to double in size by 2019.
